Meet Pedro Turcios

Dynamite has been sourcing coffee from Pedro since 2021. Pedro is a second-generation producer, after his mother Maria Trancito. Hence the name of his farm: Finca Maria Bonita, which on a clear day, has beautiful aerial views of Marcala. However, the high altitude isn’t the only thing that makes Pedro’s coffee special. He’s highly experimental, always pushing the envelope in specialty coffee. In prior years, his 300-hour+ anaerobic coffees have been award-winning, with this same quality following every cup. Look out for his co-fermentations (with all kinds of fruit), crazy varietals, anaerobics, and yeast anaerobic coffees. We love calling Pedro with questions about insights into new and upcoming processes or varietals.

While we love Pedro for his insanely good coffee, after 5 years, he’s become another member of the Dynamite family. First and foremost, when drafting soccer players, we recommend picking him first. His semi-professional soccer background will dominate your best opponent- trust us when we say that our skills aren’t even in the same league. When off the pitch, he’s either grilling the best food you’ve ever consumed or dialing in the perfect pour over.

Nick, our marketing wizard, told us a story that perfectly encapsulates what our relationship with Pedro is like:

“I went to Honduras to meet all of our partners for the first time in 2026. I was nervous to say the least, as I don’t speak Spanish and have been out of the country only once before. However, when we arrived, Pedro was one of the first people I met. We walked into Huber Nicolas cafe, where various producers were dialing in new lots. Pedro welcomed me with open arms, explaining everything that was going on. I didn’t think I could like Pedro any more than I did until we went to leave on the last day. After a long night around a fire, Marcala was quiet when we departed. As we started the 2-hour drive to the airport, I was disappointed I didn’t have the chance to say goodbye. 30 minutes later, plus one quick phone call, and Pedro ripped up behind us in his truck with breakfast sandwiches. How he not only found us but made breakfast in less than 30 minutes will always floor me. All of this to say that this gesture of Pedro’s kindness is what I think of when we talk about working with him. He goes out of his way not only to explain the little things but also to set you up for success.”
