All Dynamite Roasting coffees are USDA Certified Organic, and have been since day one. That means that the coffee we roast was produced without the aid of artificial chemicals. The discussion of sustainable farming practices goes hand in hand with the discussion of how our coffee tastes, because organic coffee is grown with an extra layer of hard work. Organic farming practices replenish and maintain the soil fertility, reduce the use of toxic herbicides and pesticides, and build biologically diverse agriculture.

Coffee is one of the most highly chemically treated crops in the world. The use of petroleum-based pesticides and fertilizers not only can strip the soil of nutrients and contaminate water supplies, they can also affect the farmers that are growing the crops negatively. Conventional coffee plantations can also be responsible for clear-cutting rainforests to plant full-sun hybrid coffee plants. A commitment to organic means cleaner air, cleaner water, and of course, cleaner beans.

We are one of the few certified organic roasters in our area. Our coffee is shade-grown, and 100% chemical-free. We went through the expensive and time-consuming process to be a certified organic business from the beginning. Because it is as important to our customers as it is to us, it is a great investment.

Solar-Powered Coffee

In 2021, we expanded our horizons and built our own state-of-the-art production facility in Swannanoa, North Carolina. Powered by 156 solar panels, our new roasting headquarters embodies sustainability, producing 15 times the energy it consumes. Every day, we charge our fully-electric delivery van with this solar energy, ensuring emission-free delivery to our customers in Asheville and Western North Carolina. Our cafe is also solar-powered, which means from bean to brew, our operations are powered by renewable energy.


Coffee Bag Recycling

Our high-quality coffee bags are created by Savor Brands, which funds a powerful effort for a greener future: Repurpose & Reprocess, or R+R. Through their partner Byfusion, our bags are recycled and turned into construction-grade building materials called Byblocks. Byfusion turns plastic that isn’t normally recyclable into these bricks that can be used as building materials; they are like 22lb Lego blocks, and can be used in building retaining walls, sound barriers, sheds, landscaping—you name it. But most importantly, these bricks are a zero-waste product. One ton of plastic is equal to one ton of Byblock. They don’t crack or crumble, and they have 83% less emissions than concrete blocks. Partnering with Savor Brands aligns with our eco-conscious goals, and it gives our used coffee bags a new, meaningful purpose.
